About Dr. Kristie Shapiro

Dr. Kristie Shapiro, OMD, L.Ac, Dipl.OM is a triple board certified and licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She is a dedicated practitioner with a passion for both sports and holistic health. Growing up in Reno, NV, Dr. Shapiro’s athletic journey includes competitive swimming, Division 1 NCAA water polo for the ASU Sun Devils, CrossFit and a few years of competitive weightlifting. After graduating from Arizona State University, she moved to Southern California to pursue her education in acupuncture and herbal medicine.

Dr. Shapiro graduated with honors from Yo San University in Los Angeles, completing an intensive 4-year Master's program in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her athletic background combined with her extensive training gives her a unique understanding of the physical challenges athletes face and the best approaches to injury rehabilitation.

Dr. Shapiro is dedicated to excellence in orthopedics and sports medicine. Currently enrolled in the most advanced orthopedic and sports medicine acupuncture certification program, she is on track to become the first and only certified sports medicine acupuncturist in Nevada by 2026. Her commitment to advanced training ensures that patients receive the highest standard of care tailored to their athletic needs.

Dr. Shapiro has been serving the Reno community and surrounding areas since 2012. She is committed to providing personalized, effective treatments that help her patients recover, prevent injuries, and optimize their performance. With a deep understanding of the body’s mechanics and healing potential, Dr. Shapiro is passionate about helping her patients lead pain-free, active lives.
