About Dr. Kristie Shapiro

Dr. Kristie Shapiro, OMD, C.SMA, L.Ac., Dipl.OM is a multiple board-certified and licensed acupuncturist and herbalist specializing in orthopedic and sports medicine. A Reno native and former Division I NCAA water polo athlete at Arizona State University, her background in competitive sports—including water polo, swimming, CrossFit, and weightlifting—shapes her deep understanding of athletic performance and injury recovery.

She earned her Master’s degree with honors from Yo San University in Los Angeles, completing an intensive four-year program in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Shapiro combines her clinical expertise with firsthand athletic experience to deliver highly effective, personalized care.

Serving the Reno community since 2012, Dr. Shapiro is committed to helping patients recover from injury, prevent future issues, and optimize performance. She has completed the most advanced certification in orthopedic and sports medicine acupuncture and is the first and only acupuncturist in Nevada certified in Sports Medicine Acupuncture®. Her approach focuses on restoring function, relieving pain, and empowering patients to lead active, healthy lives.
